Dignity

The stories of those we serve and those who financially support Dallas Christian Ministry are connected through the community of God. At the end of 2023, our Executive Director, Leah Hedgpath, received an unexpected check from a couple for $10,000.

Leah spoke with the donors to share her gratitude for the gift. "I was driving by the ministry like I do most every day," the donor shared. "I noticed the line wrapped around two blocks. I cried the entire time I was driving. I prayed that God would show me how I could help. The Spirit laid on my heart to write a check. I pulled out my checkbook and asked God what amount. Without hesitation, I wrote $10,000."

The donors aren't interested in recognition for their generosity, so they will remain anonymous, but we tell this story to share the power of what God is up to in and through this community and the ministry. In addition to the financial generosity, she purchased a wig for a client who was diagnosed with cancer and who lost her hair due to chemotherapy. As we grieve the passing of this client, we are grateful she could wear her wig at her funeral. It gave her dignity during such a difficult time.

Dignity is one of our core values here at Dallas Christian Ministry. We recognize all people as worthy of honor and respect. We remain grateful to those who feel called to give to support God's children in our community. Through their support, we will reach our goal of serving the 100,000 people we anticipate requesting help this year
